Lucerne

Our last day, and we had planned on hanging out at the camp beach… except the weather was overcast and gross so instead we took the train to Lucerne and spent the late afternoon there. Honestly we didn’t see too much of the city, it was mainly just something to kill time before returning home.

But we walked around the KKL (a really nice, modern building on the lake with reflecting pools) and then across the Chapel bridge (the oldest footbridge in Europe!) which was all adorned with flowers. Part of the bridge was burned years ago, but there is still some artwork left inside on the roof panes.

Then we walked around the old town for a bit and ended up at Yet Another Italian Restaurant (did I mention how sick I am of pizza and pasta?)… but this one was right on the river, facing the other bank and bridges. It was definitely very pretty, but I think I was too exhausted to fully appreciate it. And then we ended our trip to Lucerne by visiting the Hofkirche (big church), which was definitely worth seeing. I almost feel guilty because we were goofing off inside and taking funny pictures in the pews… but it was all in good fun. Well, except for when Emi wrote “God is dead” (Nietzsche) in the (guest?)book.

So that’s pretty much how the weekend went. I don’t know where they get their energy from, but I can tell you it was quite draining being around them for 3 straight days. But this isn’t anything new for me, as I always need some alone time after spending a significant chunk of time around people. Don’t get me wrong, I had a BLAST goofing around with them… but at times they were at a whole other level, at which point I would sort of sit back and let them roll with it. But yeah, they were definitely entertaining (albeit completely inappropriate about 90% of the time, haha).

And then home, at last! And by home, I mean my home for the week – Zurich. We basically just chilled out and ordered Chinese food. Ugh, $14 for chop suey? Give me a break! It wasn’t even that good! Akjhfdglhfdsetetyh$^#^&@%$ I miss my cheap-ass food from NY! :/
