Last weekend of summer

After complaining of boredom for past few weeks, it figures that the last weekend of summer would be anything but boring. I met two other international students while watching tv and we ended up exploring Sydney together [see, who says watching tv is a bad thing?]. Where is all begins...On Saturday night [Mar 4], I went with Mike [24, Cali] and his friend Emma [French] to the Gay/Lesbian Mardi Gras parade which was quite an interesting sight. You can only take so much of the crowds though, so after being packed like sardines on the side of the road for about an hour, we left. Mike and I had a late dinner at the YHA cafe and had breakfast platters. Gotta love all-day breakfast!

On Sunday afternoon [today], I wandered into the city with Mike and Melvin [22, Dutch] and we ended up crossing the harbour bridge to North Sydney, where we sat in the park and admired the amazing view of the opera house, skyline, and bridge. I’m still in disbelief that this is my backyard and I can go there anytime. Granted, it is a bus ride away, or an hour’s walk from campus. We split pizzas from Pizza Hut and ate them in the park while watching the sunset. Once the sky turned pink, we went camera crazy, with the help of my tripod of course. It was really fun to go on a photo excursion with other people who also want to take their time to get the right shots, rather than go with your non-photography inclined friends who get bored right away.
