Nobody wants rain, much less rain with 40+ mph winds on their wedding day.

Instead of April showers, Alison and Stephen got hurricane-like conditions the day they got married. But you know what? It didn’t matter. When you’re looking your best, high on love, and about to spend the night partying with all of your favorite people, there’s not too much that can shake you.

(That, and riding through the storm in the Coolest Ride Ever – an old checker cab used in movies like ‘When Harry Met Sally’ – which I have to say was one of the coolest things I’ve done in awhile!)

I also have to give proper thanks to Melissa for assisting me (she snapped a few of the shots below!), Peter for driving us all around Brooklyn in the rain, and Bubby’s for being awesome as usual :)

Camila contacted me last summer with an interesting request. She and her sisters had been planning a wedding for their parents, who met in Colombia when they were kids and got married 30 years ago in a courthouse. They never got to have a real wedding ceremony or celebration though, so to commemorate their 30th anniversary they would renew their vows and finally have that special wedding day on Labor Day weekend of 2010. So sweet of their daughters to do this for them!

It was a beautiful summer wedding, with the ceremony at Our Lady of Hope church in Carle Place, followed by the reception at Swan Club in Roslyn Heights. They couldn’t have asked for a better day for the wedding – it was everything that a perfect summer day should be, which makes me look forward to warmer days even more as I glance outside my window right now and see piles of snow that probably won’t disappear until April :/

Sarah and Ali got married about two months ago, and I’ve been holding onto their wedding images for all this time – for good reason! :) You see, this is a wedding I know I’m going to remember for years to come. Ali and Sarah are two supremely awesome people. They are kind-hearted, successful, and funny – and are completely surrounded by love. Everywhere I looked at their wedding I could see it – and feel it. They are so fortunate to have such amazing friends and family.

If you missed it, you should check out their DC engagement session photos. Also, huge thanks to Mara for assisting me with this wedding! :)

And this last one might be one of my favorites just because it’s so funny. If you look closely in the chandelier, you can see a white bouquet of flowers from Sarah’s first toss! So this is actually Take #2 of the bouquet toss, using a bridesmaid’s flowers.

Sarah and Ali got married last weekend in North Jersey. To say that I was honored to have met them, photographed them, and been a part of one of the most important days of their lives would be the understatement of the year.

I am insanely excited to share their wedding photos. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come soon! :)

Sarah & Ali – I hope you are having an incredible time in the Bahamas!! (I know you’re reading this!) :D

Part 1 (getting ready + ceremony) can be seen here.
Engagement + sneak peek photos can be found here.
Part 2 (portraits + receptions) below!:

We started the day bright and early with portraits at the Anderson House in Washington D.C. Jill and Esrael decided to have a ‘first look’ and got to see each other before the ceremony. I could write a whole blog post dedicated to why couples should always try to do this on their wedding day – it’s an excellent, excellent idea. Getting portraits taken at the start of the day meant that they were free to enjoy the rest of their wedding day without having to leave any part of it to go get pictures taken. A couple should not have to miss any part of their own party!

But oh, what a gorgeous venue the Anderson House is. We could have spent the entire day exploring it and taking pictures!

One of the many reasons why this wedding was so awesome was that they had TWO receptions! Two VERY different receptions, at that. Jill has the biggest sweet tooth of anyone I have ever known. It’s not unheard of her to replace entire meals with some sort of dessert, or incorporate a bakery trip into every city visit. So, not surprisingly, Jill had a dessert reception at her wedding. I have never seen so many different sweets in one room! Cookies, cupcakes, babka, fondue, chocolate, candy, and pretty much any other dessert you can think of… you name it, she had it. And at the end, all the guests got to fill up a bag with treats to take home.

Kelsey took the shot below of Jill and I on stage. We thought it’d be funny if I took Jill’s “throne” and she had to stand next to me :)

Reception #2 was the Eritrean reception, with hundreds of Esrael’s friends & family members in attendance. Lots of music, dancing, and most importantly – FOOD. Eritrean food is so flavorful and veggie-friendly, and meant to be eaten with your hands rather than with utensils. More specifically, you typically cover a thin, spongey bread with servings of food, and then rip off pieces of the bread to pick up the food with and then eat. It’s pretty fantastic.
