Wedding Photography | Ramirez Vow Renewal | Swan Club, Long Island

Camila contacted me last summer with an interesting request. She and her sisters had been planning a wedding for their parents, who met in Colombia when they were kids and got married 30 years ago in a courthouse. They never got to have a real wedding ceremony or celebration though, so to commemorate their 30th anniversary they would renew their vows and finally have that special wedding day on Labor Day weekend of 2010. So sweet of their daughters to do this for them!

It was a beautiful summer wedding, with the ceremony at Our Lady of Hope church in Carle Place, followed by the reception at Swan Club in Roslyn Heights. They couldn’t have asked for a better day for the wedding – it was everything that a perfect summer day should be, which makes me look forward to warmer days even more as I glance outside my window right now and see piles of snow that probably won’t disappear until April :/

Wedding Photography | Sarah & Ali | Old Tappan Manor, NJ

Sarah and Ali got married about two months ago, and I’ve been holding onto their wedding images for all this time – for good reason! :) You see, this is a wedding I know I’m going to remember for years to come. Ali and Sarah are two supremely awesome people. They are kind-hearted, successful, and funny – and are completely surrounded by love. Everywhere I looked at their wedding I could see it – and feel it. They are so fortunate to have such amazing friends and family.

If you missed it, you should check out their DC engagement session photos. Also, huge thanks to Mara for assisting me with this wedding! :)

And this last one might be one of my favorites just because it’s so funny. If you look closely in the chandelier, you can see a white bouquet of flowers from Sarah’s first toss! So this is actually Take #2 of the bouquet toss, using a bridesmaid’s flowers.

Wedding Photography | Kelly & John | Brooklyn Botanic Garden

When you think of Brooklyn, your mind might jump to the Brooklyn Bridge and the glorious NYC skyline, grungey warehouses, a vibrant arts scene, or perhaps funny accents. But contrary to these stereotypes, tucked in the middle of the borough you’ll find the gorgeous Brooklyn Botanic Garden, site of Kelly and John’s beautiful October wedding. As if the location weren’t enough, the wedding was also full of amazing details. John made all of the wooden nametags himself, which each had a slot to hold a strip of photos taken in the photo booth they had at the reception. The guestbook was in the form of a typewriter where guests could type out messages to the couple. They even had a cigar roller during cocktail hour!

I had such a blast documenting their day. Enjoy the photos of Kelly and John’s wedding, with a vintagey twist! :)

Ceremony: Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Reception: The Palm House, Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Flowers: Root Stock & Quade
Music: Baby Soda Jazz Band

Wedding Photography | Sneak Peek: Ali & Sarah | Old Tappan, NJ

Sarah and Ali got married last weekend in North Jersey. To say that I was honored to have met them, photographed them, and been a part of one of the most important days of their lives would be the understatement of the year.

I am insanely excited to share their wedding photos. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come soon! :)

Portrait Photography | Jasmin & Kenneth | Odense, Denmark

As you’ve likely noticed, the past few posts on this blog have been from my recent trip to Europe. There are still plenty more Europe photos to come, but we’ll take a break for now and resume our regularly scheduled wedding and portraiture-related posts :)

It’s worth noting that the main impetus for that Europe trip was Jasmin’s 30th birthday party, to be held in mid-September in Denmark. I got the invite earlier this year and I don’t think anyone really expected me to make the trek over there. But it’s exactly the sort of thing I would do – something that may seem a little crazy, but that I’ve rationalized and justified in my mind. I first met Jasmin two years ago on a Switzerland camping trip with two of my Swiss friends, who were also invited to her party. When would be the next time we’d all be able to get together like this? Plus, I was also due for a reunion with my Dutch friend (who will also make an appearance on this blog in due time). Everything fell into place, I found a cheap flight (I’m telling you, I’m freakishly good at this), and come September 10 I found myself across the pond in Europe.

While visiting Jasmin in Denmark, I also had the pleasure of meeting her boyfriend, Kenneth. I didn’t get to do a full-blown photoshoot with them, but I did snap a few pictures of them during the time I spent in Denmark. They are so great together that I can’t help but smile about it :) Kenneth provides the balance to Jasmin’s crazy, goofy side – if nothing else, I think these photos show that perfectly.
