Wedding Photography | Bubby's Brooklyn | Sneak Peek: Alex & Mike

Alex and Mike got married last night at Bubby’s. My sole goal in photographing their wedding was to capture how freakin’ awesome they are. I’m not sure if that’s even fully possible, but I think the shots below come close to doing them justice :)

Muuuuuuch more to come!

Wedding Photography | Bubby’s Brooklyn | Alison & Stephen

Nobody wants rain, much less rain with 40+ mph winds on their wedding day.

Instead of April showers, Alison and Stephen got hurricane-like conditions the day they got married. But you know what? It didn’t matter. When you’re looking your best, high on love, and about to spend the night partying with all of your favorite people, there’s not too much that can shake you.

(That, and riding through the storm in the Coolest Ride Ever – an old checker cab used in movies like ‘When Harry Met Sally’ – which I have to say was one of the coolest things I’ve done in awhile!)

I also have to give proper thanks to Melissa for assisting me (she snapped a few of the shots below!), Peter for driving us all around Brooklyn in the rain, and Bubby’s for being awesome as usual :)

Springtime in Dumbo, Central Park, and the Upper East Side

Last weekend was the first spring-like weekend of the year, so in true Lindsay fashion it was spent primarily outdoors. On Saturday, I oh-so-stupidly biked about 10 miles around Brooklyn after my morning ‘total body conditioning’ class. The whole point of the class is to overload your muscles so you can’t even complete the reps, basically breaking them down and making them hurt. You’re not supposed to lift weights for the following two days as the muscles are repairing themselves (and in theory, getting stronger). But I figured some cardio work would be ok afterwards. As I often do, I overestimated my comfort level for all this physical activity and arrived home absolutely exhausted that evening. And sore – oh so sore. My poor legs!

The next day I was sore all over, which I thought was strange since I’d only really overworked my legs the day before. But it was so nice out that I couldn’t resist a frolic through Central Park. The whole time I felt like I was forcing myself to wander around while my back ached and all I really wanted to do was lay down. But I NEVER want to lay down! I never want to sit and relax – I’m the girl who always has to keep busy. And honest to god, I’ve never had a single problem with my back (which I am SO so thankful for), so this was all pretty weird.

And then I spent the next 3 days bed-ridden and unable to function. I don’t know what happened, but I went through a whole gamut of non cold-like symptoms in a span of about 24 hours. The kind that really knock you down and prevent you from doing ANYTHING, really. And for someone like me, that is pure torture. Not only was I unable to lift my head for 3 days, but I also missed *2* live tv show tapings and 3 glorious sunny 60-degree days. If that’s not FML-worthy, I don’t know what is!

But anyway, at least I was able to enjoy the weekend before my body decided to take the next 3 days off from life. On Saturday I did some shooting around my favorite wedding venue (Bubby’s), and on Sunday I snapped some shots around Central Park and the Upper East Side:

Bubby’s Wedding Party & Open House

I had the pleasure of attending a wedding open house at Bubby’s this week. For those who aren’t savvy, Bubby’s is a restaurant and event space in the most fantastic NYC location, nestled between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges on the Brooklyn side in Dumbo (though they have a Manhattan location too). I can’t imagine a better view at a wedding reception, nor a better area for outdoor wedding shoots. Seriously, look at this view of the Brooklyn Bridge:

Bubby’s also knows how to put on a great event! They set up tables around both floors and selected some of Brooklyn’s most talented wedding vendors to come and display their work. It was so inspiring to talk to them all and see their fantastic products. Check them out!:

Artesanal Sweets | Natascha had the most beautiful cupcake display I’ve ever seen! I must have taken at least 100 photos of her table. Her PB&J cupcakes are to die for! And her cookies are decorated with edible glitter!

Gossip Girl castmembers caught at lunch

I spent the afternoon, off-and-on, at the Gossip Girl set in TriBeCa. Of course I arrived just after they finished filming a scene on the street, and stuck around until it was apparent that they had moved indoors for the day to shoot another scene. I was about to head out when I noticed a few of the paparazzi had moved down the block to another corner and were swarming Bubby’s restaurant. A guy I’d been chatting with and I kept peering inside, expecting them to be filming a scene in there. Then we finally realized that Chace Crawford and Blake Lively were having lunch! Their backs were toward the window, but we could tell it was them when they turned their heads to the side. After snapping away for awhile, a guard finally stepped in and stood in front of them, thus blocking our view. I would have stayed to see them exit the restaurant, but I found out shortly afterward that my gmail account had been hacked into, so I had to take care of that.

I did come back later in the day, though, and caught a glimpse of Chace again as he went into the building to film with Blake. By that point it was getting dark, so I didn’t stick around for too long. I did get to talking with some fans of the show, who seemed to know an alarming amount about the cast and the shoots. One of them had been to a party with several castmembers in attendance, so she was telling us about what they were like in person. Crazy! I think surprisingly this is one of my favorite parts about this paparazzi gig – being around lots of spirited fans who come to me with questions, as if I’m an insider on the shoot.
