I spent a warm summer evening last week wandering around one of my favorite Brooklyn neighborhoods (and my backyard), Williamsburg. This isn’t anything out of the ordinary, as I’ve done this more times than I can count. But this time, I was with Giselle-Erica, a fellow Brooklynite. Her senior portrait session found us embracing the grit and color of the streets, as well as the waterfront. Take a look at some of her shots!:

And if you’d like to book a New York senior portrait session, you can read more about it and contact me for more information! :)

Tiffany and NiiOkai celebrated their wedding day across two NYC boroughs. It began at the LaGuardia Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Queens, where Tiffany and her bridal party got ready. The ceremony was held at a church in Brooklyn, and was followed with some portraits at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. I’ve been to a good number of museums in NYC, but somehow I’d never even heard of this one. Turns out it’s a fantastic spot for a photoshoot! I only wish we’d had more time to roam around the museum.

Afterwards I headed back to Queens with the wedding party on a party bus, which ended up breaking down on the highway back – whoops! Thankfully a replacement bus was sent right away to pick us all up, so we didn’t miss much of the reception. Talk about luck!

Congrats to Tiffany and NiiOkai!

I love when my clients pick out the locations for their photoshoots – not only does it help me out, but it also reveals a bit about their personalities beforehand. Even better, the locations they choose tend to actually bring out their personalities because they hold special meaning or interest. And since that’s what I’m so keen on capturing in my images, I really encourage everyone I work with to choose a location for their shoot.

Kymberly and Davide had me meet them at the Transit Museum for their engagement session. “Davide loves trains”, said Kymberly. Translation: these two are fun, young-spirited people in love. I loved following them around as they hopped from train to train in the museum. And that wasn’t even enough train-action, so we went into an actual subway station afterwards to take some more photos. That was fiiiiiine by me, as I’m fascinated by the subway system. It was such a fun shoot!

At one point, I had them both do something in secret on each side of the phone booth. They couldn’t see what each other was doing – yet they ended up doing the exact same thing! (putting their ear up against the divider to listen to the other side). I’m posting this shot instead though, because it’s pretty funny:

Wanna know how a photographer spends her weekends when she’s not out shooting a wedding, event, or portrait session? Taking pictures, of course! :) I just can’t help it! I’ve always been sort of obsessed with documenting my life. And I’m always out and about doing things and exploring NYC, so of course I’ve got my camera with me almost all the time.

This past weekend, we were graced with the most incredible weather – sunshine & 70’s – does it get any better? When the weather is good, I make an effort to be outdoors as much as possible. On Saturday, Lauren and I wandered around the East Village and got a wee bit distracted by all the gorgeous fencing on St. Marks Place. I get so entranced by all the swirls and texture. Isn’t it just gorgeous?

Then on Sunday, I got on my bike and rode down to Prospect Park, where I just layed on a hill with the sun shining on me, dozing off to the occasional shouts from the six baseball games taking place all around me. No pictures, just pure enjoyment and relaxation :) Later, I ended up on 5th Ave in Park Slope where the annual 5th Ave Street Fair was happening. Unlike most NYC street fairs that all have the same repetitive vendors, this one had much more variation to it. So I wandered the street with my big lens, shooting candid shots of strangers and ogling all the kittens that were up for adoption at one booth. I am officially on the hunt for a kitty to call my own!… but it’s not a decision to be taken lightly, so I did not give in to temptation and adopt one on the spot there. Soon enough!

But man, I love NYC. I say it all the time, yet somehow it’s not enough.
