Engagement Photography | NYC | Cameron & Brian

Cameron and Brian are about the sweetest couple you could meet. They just graduated from med school and wanted to do their engagement shoot in NYC before moving to San Francisco. They wanted some very New Yorky photos – and you can’t get much more New Yorky than Central Park and the Brooklyn Bridge, right? :)

It’s funny because we were wrapping up in Central Park and had to hurry to make it to the Brooklyn Bridge before sunset, when in-between shots, a gentleman struck up a conversation with me about photography and becoming a professional photographer. I always relish the opportunity to talk photography to anyone, anytime, so I was happy to chat for a bit, but the whole time I was thinking about how we only had about 30 minutes to get down to the bridge to catch the sunset. I didn’t want to keep Cam & Brian waiting and potentially miss it, so I had to cut our conversation short.

We got down to the Brooklyn Bridge a little later than planned, and in true NYC fashion I was feeling a little hurried/stressed. But by the time we got out onto the bridge, we were hit with this incredible light that we might not even have had if we hadn’t been running late.

That’s always how it is though, isn’t it? We plan, we rush, we hurry, we worry – and usually it all works out in the end. I’d say it more than worked out for us with this shoot :)

Wedding Photography | Bubby's Brooklyn | Alex & Mike

There’s always something special about a wedding that makes me look forward to it. Whether it’s the gorgeous venue or location, the incredible details, or the delicious food that’s promised, I get psyched for each wedding I get to photograph. And afterwards, I remember every one of them for that something special.

For Alex & Mike’s wedding, you could have dropped them on the most exotic of islands, filled their reception venue with DIY details galore, and served filet mignon, and I would still walk away thinking that the best thing about their wedding was how unbelievably awesome they both are.

(Though to be fair, the pork sliders were pretty ace ;P)

(Oh, and their epic impromptu performance of ‘Single Ladies’ is something I won’t be forgetting anytime soon!)

Wedding Photography | NYC Civil Marriage Ceremony | Marta & Andrew

Did I ever mention how much I love civil marriage ceremonies? Don’t get me wrong, I totally appreciate all of the elaborate, detail-laden weddings that so perfectly exude the personalities of the couple in question… but deep down, I’m all about keeping it simple. All you need is love, people – didn’t the Beatles teach us anything? :P

Marta and Andrew embarked on their wedding planning adventure last summer, much like most engaged couples do. But after finding themselves completely overwhelmed and engulfed in the process, they pretty much scrapped everything and decided to do things their own way and get married by themselves. I love them for that! I was so honored to be the one person in attendance to witness their marriage vows. After their City Hall ceremony, we had a few hours to wander around Downtown Manhattan taking photos in places that held special meaning for them. One of the places we shot at was the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, since they first met on the ferry – and would you believe that a line about the weather won Marta over? (Apparently it was exceptionally stormy the day Andrew first talked to her). Love it! :D Then after the shoot, they rounded out their special day celebrating with friends and family at dinner. If that’s not a perfect day, then I don’t know what is.

And in case you couldn’t tell, I am very fond of these two. I had the best time hanging out with Marta and Andrew on their wedding day!

Wedding Photography | Bubby's Brooklyn | Sneak Peek: Alex & Mike

Alex and Mike got married last night at Bubby’s. My sole goal in photographing their wedding was to capture how freakin’ awesome they are. I’m not sure if that’s even fully possible, but I think the shots below come close to doing them justice :)

Muuuuuuch more to come!

Wedding Photography | NYC Civil Marriage Ceremony | Sneak Peek: Marta & Andrew

I had the most amazing time hanging out with Marta and Andrew the day they made things official and became husband and wife. I witnessed (yes, I got to be their witness!) their marriage at the City Clerk’s office in Manhattan, and then we spent the afternoon wandering around lower Manhattan taking pictures.

So. Much. Fun!

I’ll be posting the full set of photos sometime next month, but it’d be cruel to leave you hanging so here are just a few for now :)
