I haven’t even looked through all the photos from today’s shoot, but I knew when I took this shot that it’d make its way to the blog tonight.
I spent the perfect summer evening in Brooklyn with Nicole and Will, and am so excited to shoot their wedding celebration later this week!
On Memorial Day Weekend, I hopped on a train heading north through the Hudson River Valley. As much as I adore the city, it’s nice to escape once in awhile and be reminded that small towns DO in fact exist!
Gilmara and Ofoe got married at The Rhinecliff, a gorgeous hotel right on the Hudson River in Rhinebeck. For portraits, we got to play on the train tracks and the waterfront right outside the hotel – in fact, the series of photos on the tracks were taken just seconds before a train came through! It was honking at us like crazy, but we had cleared the tracks well before it got too close to us :D Nothing like a little added adrenaline just before exchanging your wedding vows, right?
The ceremony took place outdoors, overlooking the river. The reception was set indoors and was more akin to a dance party. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen guests tear up the dancefloor like they did at Gilmara and Ofoe’s wedding. It was an absolute BLAST to be a part of!
Emily and George had a fantastic nontraditional wedding in Brooklyn. Their ceremony was held at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, one of the most gorgeous churches I’ve seen outside of Europe. Here’s one shot from their wedding:
Robyn & Steve: high school sweethearts, world travelers, and all-around adventurers. From the day I met them, I knew we were meant to be. I didn’t know it, but they would change my life.
You see, they are rock climbers. Rock climbing was always one of those things that I thought was super cool and would be fun to try someday. Well, Robyn and Steve made “someday” happen for me. Steve was an instructor at the local climbing gym and showed me the ropes (literally!), and I’ve been climbing religiously 2-3 times a week for the past 6 months. But they didn’t just get me hooked on a fun new hobby – they helped me reconnect with friends and start new friendships via the local climbing community. My life is better, and I am happier, because of something one of my couples did for me. I’m so grateful.
Robyn and Steve got married on the waterfront by the Brooklyn Bridge, then partied at reBar with friends, family, and a Beatles cover band. I was there to document it all and celebrate these two amazing folks.
I spent Memorial Day Weekend up in Rhinebeck, NY this year. Gilmara and Ofoe got married at The Rhinecliff, and I got to document their fantastic wedding day on the Hudson. Beautiful scenery and killer dancing? This wedding photographer can’t ask for much more than that! :D
