Travel Photography | Cambodia: Temples & Islands

I’m terribly behind on sharing my travel photos on this blog! I’m only halfway through posting about my Asia trip from nearly 2 years ago – not to mention my travels since then through Canada, the US, Colombia, Iceland, and Australia.

If you’re into travel photography, I highly recommend you check out my travel blog, Frugal Frolicker – which I update much more regularly these days. You can also follow me on instagram for real time photo updates!

In the meantime, here’s a batch of images I took in Cambodia, from April 24 – May 8, 2013. I was without my Canon 5d Mark III for 6 weeks while it was getting repaired in Bangkok, so all of these photos were taken with a small point-and-shoot camera. While I traveled from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, I focused more on documenting the beautiful sights nearby at the Angkor temples and the island of Koh Rong.

I’m now an Australia Wedding Photographer, but if you are getting married overseas I’d love to be your destination wedding photographer. Contact me for more info!

Travel Photography | Northern India: Rajasthan, Delhi, Agra, and Rishikesh

As I mentioned in a previous post, this past February I took off for a 5 month backpacking trip around Asia. I spent the first month trekking in Nepal. For the second month (March), I took on India – which, admittedly, was not the brightest idea to do as a female traveling solo. It was such a mind-f*ck being immersed in a culture where gender roles are so warped. I felt like I couldn’t do anything or go anywhere without being hassled by Indian men. And you know the stereotype of how Indian men view western women as being very open and easy? I’d assumed that was an exaggeration – whatever, I can hold my own, I’ll be fiiiiiine. Well, unfortunately I can confirm that this stereotype exists for a reason: it’s TRUE. I’ve got first-hand stories to back it up. Ah well, all in the name of adventure, right?

India as a whole was exhausting and frustrating for me, but there were some good things about it too. The palaces are gorgeous and unlike other architecture I’ve seen. Seeing the Taj Mahal was undoubtedly a highlight. Escaping to the far north to Rishikesh was a much-needed retreat from the chaos of Rajasthan. And of course, the whole reason I went to India in the first place: HOLI! This festival of colors has been on my bucket list for years, and I’m so glad I finally got to experience it firsthand – though not without being hassled.

One really cool thing, though, is that I’ve photographed 2 Indian weddings since returning from Asia. I have a whole new appreciation for them after having traveled around India. They are just beautiful, beautiful events. I’ll be blogging those weddings here later this year!

Travel Photography | Nepal: Everest Base Camp & Beyond!

In case you were wondering why there have been crickets on this website for the better part of 2013, it’s because I’ve been traveling for half of the year! In early February, I took off for 5 months of backpacking around Asia on my own :)

Month 1 found me in Nepal, where I wasted no time in doing the thing that sparked this whole trip: the Everest Base Camp trek. These were 3 of the most beautiful and exhausting weeks of my life. The route was, for the most part, not too physically challenging – but you do need to have endurance to keep up for 2-3 weeks. Aside from the glorious alpine scenery, my favorite part of the trek was getting to pass through so many villages along the way. I encountered so many adorable children and got to observe people going about their daily work. Everything just happens right in front of you, out in the open, in third world nations – there isn’t that distance and privacy that separates you from everyone else in the western world.

Afterwards, I had a few days to recover in Kathmandu and spent some time exploring this city as well as Bhaktapur. To sum them up: temples and monkeys!

Nepal is a beautiful country, especially ideal for anyone who’s into hiking. I’d love to go back someday to take on the Annapurna trek!

Travel Photography | Summer 2012 Adventures

Summer in NYC is quite possibly one of my favorite things ever. Yes, ever. It’s by far my favorite time of year. Unlike a lot of people, I LOVE the heat. I will rock tank tops and flip flops well into the fall, never wanting to accept that summer is over.

BUT – I can attest to the fact that NYC can be grossly humid in the summer. Thus, it’s normal for there to be a lull in my wedding season around this time of year. I’d imagine that getting married while having to contend with such extreme weather is not exactly ideal. WAY too much sweat happening, I think!

But it’s cool – while the weddings slow down a bit, I get more time to enjoy my precious NYC summer. I found myself at the beach more than ever before – not just THE beach, but multiple beaches, all over the place. Oh, and there were a few camping trips, and some rock climbing, and boating going on, too.

More specifically, I found myself in Fire Island of NY, Cape Cod in MA, the Outer Banks of NC, and the White Mountains of NH. And when I wasn’t traveling, I was frolicking around NYC, camera in tow of course :)

Travel Photography | Cape Cod, MA

Every summer, my family spends a week in Cape Cod. It was always the highlight of my summer vacation when I was growing up, but now that I AM grown up, it’s been harder for me to make it out there each year. It had been a few years since I last joined them, but this summer things worked out and I became reacquainted with those beautiful beaches and New England summer towns. I’m so glad I did! Can’t wait to get back there next year :)

Oh and by the way, if you’re planning a Cape Cod wedding, you should absolutely get in touch! This wedding photographer would LOVE to photograph a wedding on the Cape!
