2012 Sep 16: Travel Photography | Summer 2012 Adventures

Summer in NYC is quite possibly one of my favorite things ever. Yes, ever. It’s by far my favorite time of year. Unlike a lot of people, I LOVE the heat. I will rock tank tops and flip flops well into the fall, never wanting to accept that summer is over.

BUT – I can attest to the fact that NYC can be grossly humid in the summer. Thus, it’s normal for there to be a lull in my wedding season around this time of year. I’d imagine that getting married while having to contend with such extreme weather is not exactly ideal. WAY too much sweat happening, I think!

But it’s cool – while the weddings slow down a bit, I get more time to enjoy my precious NYC summer. I found myself at the beach more than ever before – not just THE beach, but multiple beaches, all over the place. Oh, and there were a few camping trips, and some rock climbing, and boating going on, too.

More specifically, I found myself in Fire Island of NY, Cape Cod in MA, the Outer Banks of NC, and the White Mountains of NH. And when I wasn’t traveling, I was frolicking around NYC, camera in tow of course :)

2012 Aug 13: Travel Photography | Cape Cod, MA

Every summer, my family spends a week in Cape Cod. It was always the highlight of my summer vacation when I was growing up, but now that I AM grown up, it’s been harder for me to make it out there each year. It had been a few years since I last joined them, but this summer things worked out and I became reacquainted with those beautiful beaches and New England summer towns. I’m so glad I did! Can’t wait to get back there next year :)

Oh and by the way, if you’re planning a Cape Cod wedding, you should absolutely get in touch! This wedding photographer would LOVE to photograph a wedding on the Cape!

2012 Apr 29: Travel Photography | Sneak Peek: Arizona

I’ve spent the past 10 days hanging out in the desert, which I think explains the lack of posts recently. I promise I’ll be back this week with a wedding-related update!

But for now, here’s one from Arizona – the view of my backyard:

2012 Apr 9: Travel Photography | Big Island, Hawaii

Two months ago, I was just finishing up my trip to Hawaii. My best friend and I roadtripped around the Big Island for two weeks and had a blast and a half. We camped for about half of the trip and ended up rotating our cooked meals between chili and veggie burgers (hey, there’s only so much you can do with a campfire and a vegetarian diet!).

The highlight of the trip for me was our overnight hike to Waimanu Valley. It was the thing I was most looking forward to, albeit with slight trepidation. Getting there required a daunting drive down a 45-degree incline road (would our car make it down and up?), parking in a spot that’s known for break-ins (would our car still be there when we returned, a few days later?), schlepping down a long muddy path to the beach, and – oh, yeah – an all-day hike with a big-ass backpack strapped to my back (containing our tent, my sleeping bag, clothes, camera, and foodstuff).

IT WAS NOT EASY… but it was SO worth it. I spent two days lounging in my hammock on the beach, cracking open coconuts that had fallen off trees, and getting lost trying to hike to a waterfall nearby. It was everything I wanted, and about as far away from NYC living as it gets.

And as for the rest of the trip? Beaches. Lots of beaches. Brown sand, white sand, green sand, black sand beaches. Volcanoes. Natural steam rooms and volcanically-fed ocean pools. Coffee so delicious you can drink it black. Free birthday drinks. Unruly tourists. Perfect weather. Perfect EVERYTHING.

It definitely goes down as one of my favorite trips to-date.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOUR HAWAII WEDDING, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! PLEASE DROP ME AN EMAIL… I LOVE TO TRAVEL, AND WILL GO ALMOST ANYWHERE TO SHOOT A WEDDING! :)

2012 Feb 12: Travel Photography | Hawaii 2012 via Instagram

I just got back from a two-week roadtrip around the Big Island of Hawaii! To say it was an amazing trip would be a complete understatement, so I won’t. But I had the BEST TIME there. I mean… waking up on your 27th birthday in a hammock on a gorgeous Hawaiian beach at sunrise, does it get any better? :)

I have hundreds of photos to go through, but in the meantime I’ll share a thorough documentation of the trip via Instagram.

Also! – I would love love LOVE to shoot a wedding in Hawaii, so if you are planning a Hawaiian wedding and need a photographer, please contact me!
