2009 Jul 8: Social Exposure benefit event

I was asked to photograph Sally Golan’s Social Exposure event last night at Gallery Bar. It was essentially a night of art, fashion, and networking. Overall, it was a great learning experience for me. I wasn’t used to being in that sort of environment, so I had to quickly acclimate and work on my schmoozing skills while also trying to get the shots I needed. It was a lot to digest at one time, but I think I handled it pretty well.

Lauren was my +1 for the event, which helped put me at ease! Little did we know she would end up starring in a performance art piece involving the mural that was created during the night!

I did not use a flash for any of these photos (mostly because of my flash phobia, but also because I didn’t want to worry about it since it was my first real shoot). Looking at some of these photos, I see that I definitely could have used it at times. I’m pretty satisfied with the results yielded by fast glass, though (prime lenses ftw!).

Also, wearing 5″ heels while shooting was one of the worst ideas I’ve had in a long time. I did not anticipate being on my feet for 5+ hours straight!
